• Starting the Game
  • Click on or tap the calculator on the welcome screen to start the game.
    • You immediately go into the first equation.
    • Your web browser automatically saves your high score.
  • The welcome screen has a sound control in the upper right corner & a tutorial button sheet of paper in the lower right.

    • With keyboard: Select the corresponding number keys & math operators on your keyboard to enter them into the calculator.
    • With mouse: Use your mouse left click button to select the numbers and arithmetic operators on the calculator.

    • Tap the buttons of the calculator on the screen to enter data.
• Game Play
  • The goal of this game is to create the required equation solution by writing the left side of the equation.
    • Your equations do not follow the order of operations, but rather follow the order you entered the numbers.
      • If you did 3*4+2*5 that would be like 12 + 2 = 14 * 5 = 70 rather than 12 + 10 = 22.
  • Entering numbers
    • Each number you enter must be a single digit.
    • The calculator has numbers 1 through 9 but does not have zero since it would generally be of little value in entering single digit numbers.
    • You can repeatedly enter the same number. If you had to solve =8 you could do 4+4, 2*2*2, or any other variation to solve it like 5+3.
  • Strategy
    • Each time after you enter a number the calculator automatically updates the result to less you know what number you are at so far.
    • Early in the game you can use addition for the early numbers, but as you progress it makes sense to use multiplication to get close to the final number & then use addition to add a bit more to reach the desired quantity.
    • When numbers are below 90 you can multiply 9 by the nearest multiple & then add or subtract the difference.
    • When numbers get over 100 you can multiply 3 numbers together (e.g 3*4*9 or similar) and then add or subtract once or twice to reach the final quantity.
  • Scoring
    • Near the top of the calculator there is a green bar which is a time meter.
      • You must solve the equation before the timer reaches zero or it is game over.
      • Each time you solve an equation you get another solution you must solve and the timer is reset to full.
    • If you finish with a lot of time left on the meter you can score as many as 3 coins & if you barely finish in time you earn a coin.
